Gracie -Lou was the third and final pug puppy to be added to our household.  When she came home she
quickly whipped the boys into shape letting them know who was boss.  She is the smallest of our pugs but
she is by far the worst when it comes to being dominant.  She will sleep on your lap but only when and how
she wants to.

Lucky for me Gracie Lou chooses to demure to me.  She fully understands and respects the fact that I'm
the alpha in the pack.  She has gotten better as she has aged but not so much to make a huge difference in
her demeanor.  To this day I'm still amazed how much she respects me.  I know I dodge a bullet with that
one.

I've noticed that black pugs are not the same in disposition.  Fawn pugs seem to be a bit more low key and
patient.  Both of my black pugs are completely the opposite, bossy and impatient.  Don't get me wrong I love
her and wouldn't get rid of her but I won't be bringing home any more black pugs.  One Gracie-Lou is
enough for me.

Originally, I planned to breed Gracie-Lou but that wasn't in the cards.  During a simple surgery to remove a
cyst (something she is very prone to) I had my vet x-ray her hips while she was under anesthesia.  My vet
called me during Gracie-Lou's  surgery to let me know she had hip displyasia and I had my vet spay her
then and there.  At first I was disappointed but now I know it was for the best.  Dudley arrived around that
time.

Spaying Gracie Lou hasn't calmed her down at all.  She's tried to bite the UPS man when he reached down to
pet her once.  I couldn't believe it!  However, I did see Gracie-Lou bruise her ego once.  She was in the yard
and our cat had walked out on the grass.  I saw Gracie notice the cat and take off to chase it.  The cat
disappeared under a bush and Gracie followed her in.  Then all of a sudden here comes Gracie-Lou bursting
back out from under the bush with her tail between her legs and the cat chasing after her.  I had a good
laugh and you could tell she was completely embarrassed.

I've competed in Rally Obedience with Gracie-Lou and she has earned her first leg towards her Rally Novice
title.  She is quite smart and easy to train.  I really think she could go far in Rally Obedience even farther
than Buhdi because she's a pleaser and tries very hard to do what you want.  I hope to start training her
again in the future when I have the time.
