I am happy to take photographs of your pet to use
as reference material for your pet's portrait.
Normally I don't offer these photos for sale, but
due to an increase in interest, I've decided to make
them available for you to purchase. Once your
portrait is finished and we have concluded all
necessary business transactions we can discuss
whether or not you wish to purchase any reference
photos. I will sell up to six photos* for $3.00 each.
I am willing to travel a maximum of 25 miles (one
way) from my home to take photographs. For those
who live farther than 25 miles I will accept on a
case by case basis. I don't recommend trying to
bring your pet to me. He/she will be much more
comfortable in their own environment which in
turn will make things go much easier and faster.
I like to shoot as many candid photos as I can.
Posed compositions are very dull and emotionless. I
like to wait for an animal to do what it does
naturally. That's what makes a great pet portrait
image. If a photo session isn't going easily I will try
to encourage your pet to do something it does
naturally, i.e., laying on his/her back asking for
belly rubs, begging for food, chasing a toy, etc. One
session should be plenty of time to get the photos
I need, but animals are impossible to predict and
they can be very uncooperative at just the wrong
time. I am willing to be flexible to make sure our
time is spent productively. What that means is; if
I'm trying to shoot photos and your pet is just not
in the super model mood, it would be better to just
try another day instead of continuing with the
shoot. If it becomes apparent that it would be best
to try again another day I will apply any unused
time to your next photo shoot. If more than one
photo shoot has to be rescheduled due to an
uncooperative pet we will have to discuss the
possibility of additional travel fees.
At the beginning of a session it will take a few
minutes for your pet to get over the fact that there
is a new person in their house. Thus, I will plan to
arrive about 10 minutes early so to have enough
time to introduce myself to your pet before I start
shooting any photos. For overly rambunctious pets
(the golden obsessed with it's tennis ball, etc.) I
recommend at least a good 15 minutes of playtime
before I arrive. I don't want your pet so exhausted
that it can't stop panting, I just want the overly
energetic pet to be able to keep the excitement
down. If you have any questions please contact me
via e-mail at onesmugpug@comcast.net or by
phone at 425-433-0495. I will gladly answer any
questions you may have.
* For every mile past my 25 mile limit there will be a charge of $0.25/mile added to your final bill.
